Reusable Launch Vehicle Technologies and Industrial Practices: Towards the Era of Airline-like Space Transportation

Overview:

This lecture introduces the overall landscape of the commercial space industry, its current status and development trends both domestically and internationally, reusable liquid-propellant launch vehicle technologies, China’s exploration and industrial practices in developing large-thrust reusable launch vehicles, and recommendations for the high-quality development of the commercial space sector.

Speaker:

Xie Hongjun is Deputy General Manager of Interstellar Glory Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, a satellite and launch vehicle expert, Researcher, Master’s Supervisor at Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Adjunct Professor. His expertise lies in spacecraft systems engineering and aerospace systems engineering. He is currently engaged in R&D, and industrial practice of commercial space sector. With extensive experience in satellite development, he previously served as deputy chief commander for multiple national key satellite programs. He has been actively involved in the commercial space industry, focusing on the development of commercial launch vehicles, and previously served as chief commander of a reusable liquid-propellant launch vehicle program. He has received the First Prize for Progress in Science and Technology for National Defense, the Second Prize of the Ministerial Outstanding Achievement Award, and Shanghai Youth Post Expert. He is also an expert in the National Graduate Education Evaluation and Monitoring Expert Database appointed by the Ministry of Education, a think tank expert of Shanghai Big Data Joint Innovation Laboratory (Science and Research Unit), a think tank expert of the Shanghai Blockchain Technology Association, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Distributed Privacy-Preserving AI Innovation Center, and Deputy Director of the Beijing Innovation Center for Continuous Thrust Liquid Oxygen–Methane Launch Vehicle Propulsion Technology.
