Recently, a delegation from the Faculty of Engineering (FE) of the University of Debrecen (UD) in Hungary, including Professor Husi Geza, FE Dean, and Professor Zsolt Tiba, Dean’s Representative for Foreign Affairs, visited SDJU School of Mechanical Engineering (SME). Liu Jun, SME Dean, along with Vice Deans He Yiqiang and Zhang Dong, welcomed the delegation in Meeting Room 308. Relevant faculty members also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Dean Liu extended a warm welcome to Professor Husi Geza and his delegation. The two sides then engaged in in-depth discussions on joint cultivation of high-level talent.
Regarding doctoral education, the two sides conducted comprehensive exchanges on key issues including the alignment of prospective doctoral supervisors’ research areas, models for joint PhD program, study duration, implementation pathways for the dual-supervisor system, and doctoral degree awarding criteria. Both sides reached consensus on advancing a joint doctoral program between the two universities.
Regarding master’s education, the two sides held extensive discussions on student exchange visits, academic resource development and sharing, and other areas of cooperation. They agreed that strengthening collaborative cultivation of high-level talent is of great significance for enhancing disciplinary development and broadening students’ international perspectives.
In addition, the two sides held constructive discussions on faculty research collaboration. Both sides agreed to promote deeper cooperation in mechanical engineering and related fields through joint applications for international collaborative research projects, joint academic research initiatives, and shared research platforms, with the aim of producing a series of landmark research outcomes.
The exchange has laid a solid foundation for further enhancing cooperation between the two universities. Both sides will work together to achieve more substantive outcomes in areas including joint talent cultivation and faculty research collaboration.
UD is a renowned public comprehensive research university in Hungary. Founded in 1538, it has nearly 500 years of educational history and is the oldest and one of the largest higher education institutions in Hungary. The university comprises 13 faculties covering a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, agriculture, business, humanities, sciences, and medicine. It has approximately 40,000 students, including more than 8,000 international students. In the 2026 QS World University Rankings, the UD was ranked 563 globally and first among Hungarian universities.
