From May 17 to May 21, a SDJU delegation, led by Zhu Hongchun, Deputy Secretary of CPC SDJU Committee, visited France and the United Kingdom. During the visit, the delegation met with universities and institutions including TBS Education, GIP CEI in France, and Abertay University in the UK. The delegation also held recruitment fairs in Paris and at University College London (UCL).
The visit effectively strengthened in-depth interactions between SDJU and its partner universities and institutions, integrated high-quality international education and industry resources, and expanded overseas cooperation fields. It also established a solid framework for academic exchanges, joint talent cultivation, and industry–education integration. SDJU and TBS Education reached cooperation intentions in areas including the “2+1” dual-degree program, summer school, and the introduction of overseas distinguished professors. SDJU also gained valuable insights from TBS Education’s experience with AACSB accreditation to further enhance the internationalization of business education. During discussions with the GIP CEI, the two sides exchanged views on university–enterprise cooperation, industry–education integration models, and the establishment of overseas centers. With Abertay University, SDJU renewed its cooperation agreement. Building on the existing foundation of the engineering-focused “2+2” undergraduate program, the two sides officially launched deeper collaboration between art schools and business schools in areas such as game design, design informatics, and engineering management. They also held in-depth discussions on the development of a “1+1” joint master’s degree program.
During the visit, SDJU successfully held overseas recruitment fairs in Paris and London, engaging in in-depth exchanges with outstanding PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers in France and the UK. The delegation comprehensively introduced our university and faculty recruitment policies. The Paris recruitment opened up a new channel for attracting internationally competitive high-level talent and strengthening SDJU’s global faculty team, representing an innovative expansion of SDJU’s recruitment approaches and marking a new stage in its internationalization strategy. The London recruitment served as an important milestone in expanding our university’s global recruitment network, injecting new momentum into attracting top international talent. It also demonstrated SDJU’s proactive strategic vision in pooling global talent and further elevated the level of its internationalized development.
These achievements have created new opportunities for enhancing our research capabilities, expanding academic influence, strengthening faculty internationalization, and advancing deeper IEI. They have also accumulated international momentum for SDJU’s high-quality development during the 15th Five-Year Plan period. The visit not only established a regular cooperation channel between SDJU and European universities but also generated replicable and scalable cooperation models in key areas such as high-level talent recruitment and international talent cultivation. These efforts will provide strong impetus for SDJU’s advancement among high-level applied universities.
Building on these achievements, SDJU will continue to promote the implementation of various cooperation initiatives. We will further deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation with partners in France and the UK, expanding diverse forms of collaboration in interdisciplinary research, faculty and student exchanges, and credit recognition. SDJU will accelerate the development of a global talent recruitment network, extending the successful experience of the Paris and London recruitment to more countries and regions, and establishing a new international faculty development framework featuring “global scouting, targeted recruitment, and systematic nurturing.” Meanwhile, SDJU will leverage international resources to support educational reform by integrating cutting-edge academic resources and industry needs throughout the entire talent cultivation process. SDJU aims to comprehensively enhance students’ global competence and innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities, cultivating outstanding field engineers with global perspectives, craftsmanship, innovative abilities, and the capacity to solve complex engineering problems.
