CAE Foreign Member and RAEng Fellow Wang Jiangzhou Visited SDJU and Delivered a Frontier Academic Lecture

07/07/2026

On July 2, 2026, Wang Jiangzhou, foreign member of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), Professor at Southeast University, and Tenured Professor at the University of Kent, visited our university for academic exchanges. Vice President Yang Junjie met with Professor Wang and briefed on the development and achievements of our university. Representatives from Office of Science and Technology Administration (OSTA), School of Aerospace Information Technology (SAIT), School of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (SAIDS) attended the meeting.

On the same day, Academician Wang delivered a frontier lecture titled “Integrated Communication, Sensing, Computing and Intelligence Technologies for 6G” as part of the “Academic Salon” series in Lecture Hall 330 of the Administration Building on Lin-gang Campus. The lecture was organized by OSTA and hosted by SAIT. Nearly 100 faculty members and students from SAIT, SAIDS and other schools attended the lecture. Vice President Yang chaired the lecture.

Starting from the technological vision of the 6G mobile communication era, Academician Wang pointed out that the deep integration of multiple core technologies, including communication, sensing, computing, and AI, has become an inevitable trend, while the path toward such integration still faces numerous challenges. He systematically introduced the fundamental concepts of integrated communication, sensing, computing and intelligence technologies for 6G, elaborated on the technological foundations supporting cutting-edge application scenarios such as holographic communication, digital twin healthcare, all-sensing connectivity, and intelligent air–ground–sea transportation, and shared his research team’s latest achievements in this field.

Academician Wang emphasized that 6G is not simply an incremental upgrade from 5G, but a new information infrastructure featuring deep integration of communication, sensing, computing, and intelligence, as well as integrated coverage across air, space, and ground environments. Integrated communication and sensing technologies will bridge the physical and virtual worlds and empower diverse industries. Drawing on his extensive engineering experience, he analyzed the key issues and technical challenges currently facing 6G mobile communications. He encouraged SDJU faculty and students to think beyond traditional frameworks, strengthen their capabilities through solving real-world engineering problems, continue exploring new frontiers, and seize emerging opportunities in the industry.

The lecture provided SDJU faculty and students with a valuable opportunity to gain insights into cutting-edge 6G technologies, inspired young students’ enthusiasm for research in the field of communications, and offered important perspectives for our university’s efforts to explore the interdisciplinary intersection of 6G mobile communications and aerospace information, promote cross-disciplinary integration, and strengthen industry–university–research collaboration. Taking this opportunity, our university will continue to advance its development in future information technology fields and strive to showcase our innovative spirit in the new era.
