On June 17, a Chinese Language and Culture delegation from Northern Kentucky (NKY), USA paid a friendly visit to our university. Vice President Wang Hongzhi received the delegation at Conference Room 230, Administration Building, Lin-gang campus, accompanied by representatives from Office of International Cooperation and Exchange (OICE) and academic leader of International Chinese Education (ICE).

Vice President Wang extended a warm welcome to the visiting delegation. He emphasized that our university has always adhered to an open approach to education and attaches great importance to international exchange and cooperation. The visit of the NKY delegation, he noted, provided an important opportunity to deepen educational collaboration between China and the United States.

OICE introduced our university’s distinctive features, talent cultivation, industry-education integration, and international engagement. Then, academic head of ICE presented an overview of its master’s program, including its student scale, career prospects, and the unique Engineering + Chinese training model. The program is dedicated to cultivating interdisciplinary professionals who are proficient in Chinese language teaching and possess a strong background in engineering and technology.

Professor Huajing Maske, head of NKY delegation, expressed sincere gratitude for SDJU’s warm reception. She also gave a detailed introduction of the delegation members and the development of the Northern Kentucky Educational Council (NKYEC). Professor Mike Stacy, Superintendent of Beechwood School District, shared insights into the operation of the NKY Chinese language and culture initiative, which aims to enhance local students’ understanding of Chinese culture through language and cultural education, and to nurture a new generation of globally minded talents.

Both sides engaged in productive discussions on future directions for cooperation and agreed to continue and deepen the existing collaboration model. They plan to actively invite high school students to participate and promote mutual understanding and learning among different cultures through a variety of exchange activities, thereby broadening their international perspectives. In addition, both parties emphasized the importance of professional growth and capacity building for teachers, with plans to invite outstanding educators to carry out joint teaching and research activities.

This exchange laid a solid foundation for further educational cooperation between the two sides. Looking ahead, they will continue to explore deeper collaboration in areas such as student exchange, teacher training, and cultural exchange, jointly contributing to the advancement of education.
