SDJU Delegation Deepened International Cooperation and Exchange with Russian, Irish Universities

10/06/2025

In May 2025, a SDJU delegation visited Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI), Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI) in Russia, and Atlantic Technological University (ATU) in Ireland. These visits centered on in-depth discussions concerning talent cultivation, research transformation, and faculty exchange, yielding significant results.

Deepening Sino-Russian Education Cooperation with MAI

On May 26, the delegation’s first stop was MAI, where they were warmly received by Vice-rector, Deputy Director of the International Department, and heads of relevant schools. After mutual introductions covering SDJU and MAI overviews, disciplinary strengths, and cooperation prospects, MAI proposed collaboration in four English-taught professional fields.

MAI expressed a strong interest in 2+2 dual degree programs, summer exchange, student exchange programs, and scientific research commercialization. Both parties agreed to sign a cooperation agreement, with summer programs to be launched first. During the visit, the delegation toured MAI’s famous Almaz Orbital Station Mockup and its aircraft display center, experiencing the charm of aerospace technology up close.

That evening, the 2025 Overseas Job Fair – Moscow was successfully held, attracting over 50 students from top institutions, including Moscow State University, MAI, and Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia. Vice President Wang provided a comprehensive introduction to SDJU’s development, and Liu Bomin, Director of Graduate Office, detailed our university’s talent recruitment plan, fostering a solid foundation for future talent sourcing.

Renewing Traditional Friendship: New Chapter with MTUCI

On May 27, the delegation visited MTUCI. The two universities have a cooperation history spanning over a decade, with mutual student summer exchanges since 2010. MTUCI rector and several vice-rectors attended the meeting, highly praising the long-standing friendship and proposing to resume student exchange, offer advanced training for Luban Workshop students, and establish a joint master’s program in International Chinese Education. Additionally, MTUCI invited SDJU faculty and students to participate in a robotics competition to be held in November.

The delegation toured MTUCI’s Robotics Lab, Drone Lab, and University History Museum of History of Electrical Communications. The museum features valuable exhibits detailing the development of communication technology, from telegraph machines to modern computers, providing vivid practical material for teaching.

Expanding European Cooperation: Engineering Talent Cultivation with ATU

On May 29, the SDJU delegation visited ATU in Ireland. Both sides engaged in detailed discussions on multi-level talent cultivation and cooperation. Key areas of discussion included the 1+1+1 joint master’s program (1 year at SDJU, 1 year at ATU, 1 year enterprise practice and thesis), 2+2 dual degree program for undergraduate, higher vocational 3+1 transfer program, and credit recognition. Both parties agreed that the significant talent gap in Ireland’s engineering sector, particularly in computer science, provided a solid basis for collaboration.

The delegation also visited ATU’s Robotics Lab, Mechanical Engineering Lab, and Faculty of Creative Arts, Design, Education, and Humanities, observing the unique teaching model of Work Integrated Learning. ATU disclosed plans to launch cutting-edge courses in space manufacturing to meet the demands of the European aerospace supply chain.

Looking Ahead: A New Phase for International Collaboration

This visit further consolidated SDJU’s partnerships with universities in Russia and Ireland, resulting in multiple consensuses on joint programs, scientific research innovation, and talent introduction. SDJU will leverage this opportunity to accelerate its internationalization process, building broader global development platforms for faculty and students.
