On March16, the 16th China Industry-University-Research Institute (IUR) Innovation Conference was held in Beijing, bringing together over a thousand representatives from government, industry, academia, and research institutions across the country, as well as officials from relevant ministries and commissions. Lu Yongxiang, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 11th National People’s Congress (NPC) and an academician of both the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), sent a written address. Chen Zhili, former Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the 11th NPC, attended the conference, while Wan Gang, Vice Chairman of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and President of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), delivered a speech. The conference was chaired by Ding Kuiling, CAS academician, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Vice President of the China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration Association (CIUR).
Yang Junjie, SDJU Vice President, along with Li Jingchao, DirectorofOffice of Science and Technology Administration, and Professor Yao Xiaodong from the School of Electrical Engineering, attended the conference.
During the event, the IUR Joint Lab for Coreless Disc Motor, led by SDJU in collaboration with multiple partner enterprises, was approved as one of the first 24 IUR joint labs established nationwide.
The conference emphasized that supporting the establishment of IUR joint labs is a key initiative of CIUR to drive deep integration of technological innovation with industrial innovation. This initiative aims to meet the developmental needs of various industries by focusing on frontier technologies, common technologies, and key core technologies. By integrating resources and innovative capabilities from universities, research institutes, and enterprises, it seeks to accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into productive forces, providing new models and mechanisms for fostering and advancing new-quality productive forces while contributing to achieving high-level technological self-reliance and self-strengthening.
In recent years, SDJU has been actively engaged in collaborative innovation with enterprises in the field of coreless disc motor frontier technology, establishing a distinctive academic direction. The IUR Joint Lab for Coreless Disc Motor, leveraging the resource advantages of both the university and its partner enterprises, is dedicated to research and innovation in coreless disc motor technology and its application in the in-wheel motor sector. This initiative provides new momentum for technological advancements and industrial upgrades in China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) industry and other sectors.
The conference has been held 15 times, facilitating the alignment of over a thousand IUR achievements and witnessing the implementation of more than a hundred major scientific and technological breakthroughs. It has played a crucial role in integrating innovation resources, building innovation platforms, promoting the transformation of scientific research results, and fostering new-quality productive forces. The conference has had a significant impact on the IUR community nationwide.
