Recently, the “2024 Shanghai Huju Opera Festival” themed “Enriching Shanghai with Huju Opera, Reflecting the Depth of Tradition” was grandly opened in Chuansha, Pudong. At the opening ceremony, Shanghai Huju Opera Troupe awarded our university the honorary title of “Model University for the Inheritance of Shanghai Huju Opera Heritage” in recognition of our contributions to the promotion and cultivation of Shanghai Huju Opera culture.
Shanghai Huju Opera, one of the first national intangible cultural heritages, is hailed as “the Sound of Shanghai” and embodies the city’s unique charm and character.
Our university is the first higher education institution in Shanghai to establish a national intangible cultural heritage base for Huju Opera.
In collaboration with Shanghai Huju Opera Troupe, SDJU has undertaken comprehensive efforts, including bringing Huju Opera masters on campus, integrating Huju Opera courses into curriculum, introducing Huju Opera into student clubs, and staging classic Shanghai Huju Opera performance on campus. These initiatives aim to encourage more university students to actively participate in carrying out Shanghai Huju Opera inheritance, working together to protect and promote this cultural treasure.
