In order to deepen international cooperation and exchange, and expand the boundaries of academic and industry integration, Secretary of CPC SDJU Committee Lu Xiongang recently led a delegation to visit Germany and the United Kingdom. The delegation visited Hochschule Bremen City University of Applied Sciences (HSB), Broetje-Automation, AMK, the Chinese Consulate General in Hamburg, and the University of Huddersfield in the UK. These visits aimed to explore more international cooperation opportunities and promote the collaborative development of education and industry.
At HSB, professors and relevant leaders from School of Electrical Engineering warmly welcomed the delegation. Both sides conducted in-depth discussions on the teaching and research situations of programs such as electrical engineering and mechanical engineering, and toured laboratories. Later, the two parties explored potential cooperation, engaging in detailed discussions about the 2+2 cooperation for undergraduate mechanical and electrical engineering programs, as well as the 1+1 cooperation for master’s degree programs. Ultimately, a cooperative intention was reached.
In Rastede,the delegation visited Broetje-Automation GmbH. Accompanied by the company’s heads, the delegation toured the production line and research and development center. Subsequently, the unveiling ceremony of SDJU Sino-German Center for Integration of Education and Industry (CIEI) took place, marking a new phase of cooperation between both sides. During the ceremony, both sides also held in-depth discussions on cooperations such as student internships and employment, as well as faculty research, and reached several agreements on future collaborations.
In Aichwald, the delegation visited the headquarter of AMK. As a well-known provider for the German manufacturing industry, AMK has broad cooperation prospects with our university in various fields. During the visit, both parties engaged in extensive and in-depth discussions on topics such as technological innovation and talent development, and explored potential future cooperation models.
During the visit, our university’s delegation went to the Consulate General of China in Hamburg, where they met with Vice Consul General Jin Songbao and Education Consul Yin Congcong. At the meeting, our university presented a detailed introduction to the overall structure of Shanghai DianJi University, the current state of SDJU Sino-German cooperation, and the long-term development plan of SDJU Sino-German Center for Integration of Education and Industry (CIEI). Vice Consul General Jin Songbao highly praised the unique features of our university’s education model and expressed full recognition of our long-standing experience in the field of cooperation with Germany. He also expressed support for our future efforts to deepen cooperation with Germany. He particularly noted that 2026 will mark the 40th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Shanghai and Hamburg, and he hoped that our university would strengthen its ties with universities in northern Germany to foster closer exchanges and cooperation.
The delegation also visited the AMK factory inDonnstetten for an on-site inspection,aiming to gain a deeper understanding of AMK’s production operations and current human resource needs. The delegation had discussions with AMK CEO, Zhou Mi, as well as leaders from the R&D and engineering departments. Both parties engaged in detailed talks regarding cooperation in areas such as student internship programs and research collaborations within the field of industry-education integration, with the goal of jointly promoting the deep integration and development of education and industry.
At the University of Huddersfield, SDJU delegation was warmly welcomed byProfessor Bob Cryan, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Andrew David Ball, Pro-Vice-Chancellor,andheads in charge of graduate school, academic affairs, and the faculty development center. The two sides held productive discussions and officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding. They reached a consensus on joint training programs for master’s and doctoral students, with the aim of enhancing the level and quality of cooperation in higher education. Following the meeting, the delegation toured the electrical engineering laboratories at University of Huddersfield, gaining a deeper understanding of its teaching and research dynamics, as well as its cutting-edge achievements. The two sides also engaged in detailed discussions and exchanges regarding potential collaboration opportunities in the field of electrical engineering.
This visits to Germany and UK have not only provided our faculty and students with a broader platform for international exchange and academic enhancement but also injected strong new momentum into the accelerated advancement of SDJU’s internationalization process and high-quality development. We look forward to collaborating closely with these international partners to jointly create a new chapter in the integration of higher education and industry development.
