SDJU Design Innovation Center Approved as Shanghai Municipal Design Innovation Center

On the morning of August 2, Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information held the Award Ceremony of Shanghai Design Innovation Center, i.e. Promotion Meeting of World Design Cities Conference 2024 (WDCC 2024) in the lecture hall of Shanghai Nuclear Engineering Research and Design Institute. At the event, SDJU Design Innovation Center was officially awarded the title of a Shanghai Municipal Design Innovation Center in recognition of its outstanding performance and contributions in design innovation.

Since its establishment, SDJU Design Innovation Center has adhered to the philosophy of “innovation driven by design, and development led by innovation”. With a focus on meeting industry needs and fostering innovation, the center operates on a project-based model, leveraging our university’s strong engineering background and rich educational resources to continually explore new paths and methods for design innovation. The Center is dedicated to building an integrated system of innovation that combines academia, research, industry, and practical application. By embedding design innovation into the entire process of industrial upgrading, it provides comprehensive system integration services centered on industrial design, injecting strong momentum into high-quality economic and social development. Additionally, the Center actively explores new design fields and operational models to adapt to the ever-changing market environment.

In the future, SDJU Design Innovation Center will continue to deepen its research and practical exploration in design innovation. Focusing on national and regional industrial development needs, the Center will target strategic emerging industries such as aerospace, intelligent manufacturing, new energy, and new materials, driving the continuous transformation and application of design innovation achievements.

Additionally, the Center will strengthen its collaboration with renowned design institutions and enterprises both domestically and internationally, working together to build an open and collaborative design innovation ecosystem. The designation of the SDJU Design Innovation Center as a Shanghai Municipal Design Innovation Center marks its recognition as a key force in promoting the innovative development of Lin-gang Special Area and the Grand Neobay. This honor not only affirms our university’s strength in design education but also acknowledges the Center’s long-standing commitment to design innovation and its role in supporting industrial upgrading.
