On March 17, 2024, the 15th China Industry-University-Research (CIUR) Cooperation and Innovation Conference was held in Beijing. Themed on “Focus of Industry-University-Research (IUR): New Momentum, New Models and New Industries”, the conference explored implementing the strategy of invigorating China through science and education, building a strong talent pool, and driving innovation-led development, by means of collaborative IUR innovation. It aimed to successfully overcome key technical obstacles, foster and develop new quality productive forces, and accelerate self-reliance and self-strengthening in high-level scientific and technological advancements through new approaches and measures. During the event, outstanding groups and individuals who made significant contributions in deepening IUR integration in 2023. SDJU Professor Yao Xiaodong from the School of Electrical Engineering received the “2023 CIUR Innovation Award” for his outstanding achievements.
Professor Yao has long been dedicated to the research and development of cutting-edge technologies in the field of motor and electric control. Leading a team that dares to be innovative and creative, he has independently developed multiple industrialized motor and electric control products, achieved significant economic and social benefits while filled the domestic technological gap. His team’s research achievements have been awarded different honors, including Second Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress, First Prize of Shanghai Excellent Invention Award, Second Prize of Machinery Industry Association Technological Progress Award, Special Prize of Outstanding University Exhibit in China International Industry Fair, and the Excellent Product Award at international exhibitions.
CIUR Innovation Award is the highest IUR honor initiated by the China Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration Association (CIUR). This award plays a significant role in promoting the spirit of innovation, scientific research, and craftsmanship, as well as facilitating the deep integration of industry, academia, and research to achieve high-quality economic development.
