05/02/2024

On February 2, Gong Siyi, Deputy Secretary of CPC SDJU Committee and President, led a delegation to German Centre Shanghai (GCS) for research and exchange. They were warmly received by Christian Sommer, GCS CEO and Chairman.

President Gong introduced the overall situation of our university to Chairman Sommer, focusing particularly on our characteristics in “open education” strategy, student training and collaboration with German universities and enterprises.

Chairman Sommer, in turn, provided an overview of GCS history and the scope of GCS services. At present, the Centre is mainly engaged in a variety of services and consultancy for German investment in SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) in Shanghai and the Yangtze River Delta region.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to cooperate on various fronts, including student internship and employment, enterprise research and development, technology transformation and so on. Both sides also had a consensus to conduct research on German-funded SMEs in Taicang soon. This initiative aims to understand the manpower needs of enterprises, and directly help them solve technical challenges, to lay a solid groundwork for future collaboration in areas such as the introduction of German engineering education practices, joint talent training, student internship and employment, as well as cooperation in scientific research and technology development.
