Recently, leveraging the expertise of technology innovation team from School of Electronics and Information Engineering (SEIE) and utilizing the practice base of SDJU Industrial Technology Center (ITC), SDJU intelligent robotics discipline competition team has made significant strides. Through meticulous preparation and dedicated efforts, the teams has garnered impressive results in several A-Class events such as 2023 China Robot Competition i.e. RoboCup China Open (CRC&RCO), National University Contest on Intelligent Robotic Innovations (NUCIRI), and RoboCom Robot Developer Contest, all of which are included in National University Subject Competition List. Specifically, the team has clinched a total of 11 awards, including 6 national prizes (a second prize in CRC&RCO final), and first prize in special contests. With a record-breaking 105 participants, the team achieved new highs in robot competition.
At the 2023 CRC&RCO Special Competition held at Beijing Technology and Business University, SDJU students, Hou Mingze, Zhou Kang, Wangyao Yidi Liu Zijun, and others competed against over 2500 opponents from nearly 200 universities, including Beihang University, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Xi’an Jiaotong University, and Northwestern Polytechnical University. Guided by Rao Lei and Cheng Songlin, SDJU students showcased their talents in the competition. Following intense rounds, they achieved remarkable results, securing the first and second prizes in fields of generic service robot and grocery shopping robot respectively. In October, the team advanced to the final held in Jinjiang, Fujian, where they excelled and ultimately won four national awards, including a second prize in the final.
At the 2023 NUCIRI, our university fielded three teams, each engaging in spirited competition. NUCIRI this year attracted over 24000 contestants, representing 5325 teams from 501 universities across 29 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities nationwide. SDJU teams competed across innovative, competitive, and combat spectrums and took part in three special competitions featuring Tetris robot, quadruped robot, and VEX U robot. In the end, our team distinguished themselves by securing the second prize in preliminary and the third prize in the national.
Robotics competition
SDJU robotics competition team, generously supported by our university over the years, collaborates with SEIE intelligent robot team to conduct research on technologies and applications such as robot intelligent perception and navigation control. Addressing the challenge of limited practical training venues on campus, we have maximized the use of ITC for a robot innovation base. Together with ITC teachers, the team provides guidance on project algorithms and competition training, exploring the integration of entrepreneurship education into talent cultivation. By establishing a long-term mechanism for competition, and blazing new trails for innovation and entrepreneurship mode, our team has achieved significant success in recently years, securing over 30 national awards, including recognitions from China Robot Competition, Robowork and so on. Former team members were recognized with honors like Shanghai outstanding graduate or admitted as doctoral students by universities like Tongji University. Equipped with solid professional foundations and practical skills, graduated team members have earned praise from employers. Moving forward, our team remains committed to deeply implementing our university’s technology based and application oriented educational philosophy, and strive to fulfill high-quality development, cultivate outstanding applied talent, and train excellent field engineers.
