SMSE Guo Yong’s Team New Breakthrough in Key Materials for High-performance Tin-based Anodes in Lithium-ion Batteries

    A new breakthrough was made by the team of SMSE (School of Materials Science and Engineering) Guo Yong, along with Professor Wang Baofeng’s team from Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP). They successfully prepared micrometer-sized rod-shaped SnO2 through a simple hydrothermal synthesis. Utilizing an ultrasonic post-treatment approach, they uniformly embedded the micron-sized rod-shaped SnO2 into multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and multi-layer graphene oxide (GO), resulting in the formation of SnO2@GO@MWNTs composite materials, which can be used as negative electrode material for advanced lithium-ion batteries.

       On October 31, the research, titled Fabrication of SnO2 micron-rods embedding in 3D Composite of Graphene oxide@MWNTs as High-performance Anode for Lithium-ion Batteries, was published in the internationally prominent Journal of Energy Storage (IF= 9.4).

Since 2018, SMSE has been active as a contributor of SDJU academic researches. SMSE leaders have consistently provided strong support and encouragement for the research efforts of young faculty members, with backing up from all SMSE offices and colleagues.

The paper, with SDJU as the first author affiliation, features Guo Yong as the first author and jointly educated graduate student Hu Yingying as co-first author. Professor Jin Min, Associate Professor Zhang Qianjun, and Dr. Xu Lianyi from SMSE, and Professor Ruan Guanqiang and Zhang Dezhong from School of Mechanical Engineering also participated in the research. SUEP is acknowledged as the second author affiliation, with Professor Wang Baofeng and Dr. Ding Kun as corresponding authors.
