The feedback session and kickoff of renewed SDJU Wharton Global Youth Leadership Program (WGYLP) were held on October 7th in Room 330 of SDJU Administration Building. Vice President Yang Junjie, Dr. Zhu Xu, CEO, and Dr. Tao Rongrong, General Manager of Wharton Shanghai Center, as well as representatives from Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, and leaders of relevant secondary schools attended, along with over a hundred students.
At the beginning of the session, Vice President Yang expressed sincere gratitude to Wharton for their dedication. He reviewed the process of WGYLP over the past months, remarkable achievements of SDJU students’ constant breakthroughs via this platform. He emphasized the need for more young people to participate in WGYLP and expected it to stand out as a new benchmark for future talent cultivation and further the development SDJU’s global engagement.
The five students participated in the second stage of Wharton-SDJU program comprehensively shared their valuable learning and exchange experiences from different angles.
Zhu Weiyao from School of Foreign Languages majoring in English (admitted in 2013), expressed, “The WGYLP is a successful collaboration between SDJU and Wharton, an integral part of our university’s international education. Through this program, we not only enhanced our professional competence in finance but also developed the ability for international communication and collaboration. I believe this experience will have a positive impact on our future learning and career development.”
Liu Min from the School of Business majoring in International Trade (admitted in 2121) stated that during her stay in the United States, she simulated the business negotiation scenario of a startup company in convincing investors to secure financing, which greatly enhanced her negotiation skills. She also learned how to collaborate within a team, build team trust, and develop a problem-solving mindset. This trip was extremely beneficial.
After reviewing the entire process of the past WGYLP, Dr. Zhu, announced the launch of a new WGYLP. The new program has undergone comprehensive optimization and upgrades, placing greater emphasis on the integration of practical experience and theoretical knowledge. The new program aims to cultivate young leaders with more practical application abilities, providing students with more opportunities to pursue excellence in leadership.
The successful feedback session and the launch of the upcoming WGYLP at our university injects new vitality into the sustainable development of the program. It also signifies a solid step forward for our university in cultivating young leaders with an international perspective and practical skills. With joint efforts, it is believed that the program will continue to leverage its unique advantages, nurture more outstanding young leaders, and contribute to the prosperity and development of society.
