From July 22nd to July 24th, the 18th National University Students Intelligent Car Race (NUSICR) (East China Division) was held at Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology. Under the guidance of Yan Yihong, Ruan Guanqiang and Yuan Weiguang and after intense competition, six participating SDJU teams achieved excellent results: one first prize, four second prizes, and one third prize.
NUSICR, centered around automotive electronics, is a creative competition that encompasses various disciplines such as automatic control, pattern recognition, sensor technology, electronics, electrical engineering, computer science, mechanics, and automotive engineering. Categorized as an A2-level contest by our university, NUSICR is recognized by the Ministry of Education as a contributive discipline competition to the overall rankings of universities, and also one of the 56 competitions included in The Analysis Report of Competitions of National University Students by Expert Working Group of University Competition Assessment and Management System under China Association of Higher Education. Backed up by hundreds of universities nationwide, NUSICRhas been successfully held for 18 times with participated students over 400,000 in total. It enjoys a high level of recognition and students benefit tremendously from participation.
NUSICR this year attracted a total of 366 teams from over 70 universities in Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Jiangxi provinces. The competition focused on racing, requiring participants to create a model car capable of autonomously recognizing roads, following prescribed routes, and completing the course in the shortest time possible. The competition process encompassed stages like theoretical design, car building, vehicle debugging, on-site races and so on. Students were tasked with forming teams and collaborating with each other in the entire process of their respective engineering project, from the initial design to its final implementation. In this year’s NUSICR, SDJU sent students from 12 different majors: 5 from School of Mechanical Engineering, 3 from School of Electronics and Information Engineering, 3 from School of Electrical Engineering, and 1 from School of Materials Science and Engineering. This year’s competition saw the highest participation rate among SDJU students and featured the largest number of participating teams. Despite facing various challenges, faculty and students overcame them by working together, fully showcasing the practical innovation capabilities of SDJU students.
