At 18:00 on the evening of April 11, the opening ceremony evening party of the 18th SDJU Foreign Cultural and Art Festival (FCAF) was held in the Theater of Lin-gang Campus and streamed online. Teachers of SDJU functional departments, counselors in charge of secondary CCYL Committees and more than 600 students gathered for the event. The FCAF theme of this year was “Speak with Confidence, Engage the World!”, which aimed to further display students’ achievements in foreign language learning, enhance cultural exchange between Chinese and foreign countries, and stimulate students’ interest and enthusiasm in foreign language learning.
Zhang Yushuang, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages (SFL), said in her speech that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of Shanghai Dianji University. In the past 70 years, SDJU has been developing and expanding rapidly, and remarkable achievements in international exchange was made, all of which would not be possible without efforts and hard work of all teachers and students, or their love and persistent passion toward foreign cultures and arts. She hoped FCAC would contribute to students’ better understanding and appreciation the charm of foreign cultures and arts, and promote cultural exchanges. Subsequently, Xiang Jun, Secretary of Party SFL General Branch, announced the FCAC opening.
There were 14 splendid programs at the opening ceremony, including singing, dancing, musical instruments performance, poetry recitation, calligraphy and so on, which fully showcased talents and charm of SFL students. The contents of the 14 programs are rich and diverse, including Western classic songs, as well as traditional Chinese culture. They were performed in succession, bringing the atmosphere of the party to a climax.
