Recently, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission issued The Notice of SMEC on Announcement of the List of Demonstration Courses for International Students in Shanghai Universities in 2021 (No. 36 [2022]). WEB Programming by teacher Sui Tingting from School of Electronics and Information Engineering was listed in the Notice.

WEB Programming is a compulsory course for international students majoring in software engineering. The course team fully implements the student-centered teaching concept, and adopts teaching methods such as flipped classroom and task-driven method to carry out circular mixed teaching. Through task-driven method, students can learn online with predesignated questions, which can stimulate their interests in learning. The offline classroom integrates teaching methods such as group communication and staged testing, which can not only test and supervise students’ online learning, but also reflect their leadership in the classroom. In the experimental session, the project-based teaching method enhances the high order and challenge of the course, enabling students to experience the real process of actual software analysis and design, and cultivate them the ability to ask questions, analyze problems, and use modern tools to solve complex engineering problems.

At present, our university has four majors taught in English, namely Software Engineering, Automation, International Economy and Trade and Marketing. The approval of WEB Programming is the first professional course of Software Engineering major recognized as an English-taught model course for international students at the municipal level, which plays an important role in demonstrating and promoting the high-quality and connotative development of the education program for SDJU international students.
