SDA Students Field Trip

10/01/2022

On January 5th, 2022, SDJU sophomore students from School of Design and Arts (SDA) had field trip for design and arts ideas at M50 Cultural and Artistic Creative Quarter and Tian’an 1000 Trees Commercial Art Center in Putuo District.

At M50, students had the chance to appreciate over 140 artist studios, galleries and various cultural creative organizations from more than 20 countries and regions. Art pieces there are on various themes, in different forms with striking styles. From realistic paintings, modern arts to vivid works, abstractly sophisticated figurines and cultural innovation products, all expanded students’ horizon, provided rich material for professional design, and imparted design-related knowledge, making students more capable of design appreciation.

Life around us is full of beauty, and to find them, we need penetrating eyes.  The field trip aimed to acquaint students with arts of different forms and stockpile material for their future design. It was an exceptional opportunity to connect classroom theories and ideas with real arts, and record findings and insights by photo, pencil or words. The trip was bound to open up eyes for students to be more attentive to beauty of life.

SDA has been working on a new interactive teaching mechanism further integrating classroom education with real world needs. SDA has exercised deep cooperation between several art museums and art parks in Shanghai to explore new ways to cultivate art talents. (School of Design and Arts)
