SMSE Won 2021 Shanghai IUR Cooperation Excellent Project Award

On December 10th, the conference commending Shanghai IUR (industries, universities and research institutes) cooperation excellent projects was held. Development of complete-set large forgings for nuclear island key equipment of Hualong One nuclear power jointly carried out by the team of SDJU SMSE (School of Materials Science and Engineering) Professor Li Rongbin, Shanghai Electric SHMP Casting & Forging Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Jiao Tong University won the second prize of 2021 Shanghai IUR cooperation excellent project.The project focused on the national development strategy through IUR cooperation and develops nuclear island key forgings for Hualong One, achieving breakthrough with technology progressiveness and advanced intellectual property rights. The project completed the key task of developing complete-set forgings for Hualong One nuclear reactor pressure vessel, internal components and the steam generator, thus settling bottlenecks constraining development.

The Shanghai IUR cooperation excellent project award is jointly sponsored by SPAT, SEDF and SAST. As the only award set up for IUR cooperation in Shanghai, it aims to commend Shanghai enterprises, universities and scientific research institutes with outstanding performance in IUR cooperation, promote the benign interaction connecting talents, science and technology, projects and industries, and facilitate industrial transformation and upgrade of Shanghai and IUR integration to a new level.

In 2021, focusing on deepening integration of emerging technologies with industries, 30 were selected from 96 application projects, including 2 special awards, 5 first prizes, 8 second prizes and 15 third prizes. (School of Materials Science and Engineering)
