Two scientific and technological achievements of School of Mechanical Engineering (SME), namely High-performance and super-precision mould manufacturing technology and application and Integrated development and application of energy-saving product for heating system of adaptive intelligent gas-burning hot water boiler in cold urban area, won Innovation Award first prize and the second prize under 2021 China Association of Inventions (CAI) Invention and Entrepreneurship Award.
The project High-performance and super-precision mould manufacturing technology and application was cooperatively completed by the team of SME Professor Wang Xin and team of Professor Wang Xinyun of Huazhong University of Science and Technology. To tackle issues like high energy consumption, low efficiency and high cost in production, and to change China’s heavy dependence on imports of high-end basic parts, Prof. Wang’s team actively carried out a series of research and development in precision forging technology and made efforts to promote the application of relevant technologies in the production of basic parts. Their research results have solved many technical problems in die and mould manufacturing by precision forging, realized the domestic manufacturing of ultra-precision forging dies and moulds, and broken the long-term foreign monopoly in the field.
Integrated development and application of energy-saving product for heating system of adaptive intelligent gas-burning hot water boiler in cold urbanarea is another scientific and technological achievement finished by the team of SME Professor Dai Yuanjun. Aiming at the problems of poor heating quality, heating system high energy consumption and low effective energy utilization rate in the campaign to retrofit boilers from coal-burning to gas-burning, it puts forward a new idea of a heating system for adaptive intelligent gas-burning hot water boiler. Their research findings have solved the serious energy waste problem caused by its “large flow and small temperature difference” operation mode of gas-burning hot-water boiler, and significantly improved boiler comprehensive thermal efficiency and reduced the unit heat consumption of the whole system.
The Invention and Entrepreneurship Award was established by China Association of Inventions with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2005. It is the first and highest national award for inventors.The Award is composed of four sub awards: Inventor Award, Achievement Award, Innovation Award and Project Award. It aims to mobilize the enthusiasm of people for invention and entrepreneurship, and enhance the creative vitality of the whole society, also promote the transformation and implementation of invention achievements.
