SDJU Kaiserslautern School of Intelligent Manufacturing Officially Unveiled

On the afternoon of July 15th, Kaiserslautern School of Intelligent Manufacturing (KSIM), SDJU’s first Sino-Foreign joint program, after the approval of the Ministry of Education, was officially unveiled. SDJU and Hochschule Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences (HKUAS) witnessed the historical moment together via video conference. Attendees of the ceremony included Hu Sheng (SDJU President), Yang Ruofan and Li Xiaojun (Deputy Secretaries of CPC Central Committee), Hans-Joachim Schmidt (HKUAS President), Michael Magin (HKUAS Deputy President), Kaiserslautern program leaders, professors, SDJU functional departments (such as the International Exchange Office), and KSIM representatives, with SDJU Vice President Yang Junjie in the chair.

 

 

In the opening ceremony, attending professors and students watched the video Five-year Endeavor for an Intelligent Future to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the founding of School of Intelligent Manufacturing and CDKIP. Deputy Secretary of CPC Central Committee Yang Ruofan announced Letter of Ministry of Education on Approving Shanghai Dianji University to Inaugurate Kaiserslautern School of Intelligent Manufacturing. Leaders of both universities, including Hu Sheng, Yang Ruofan, Li Xiaojun, Yang Junjie, Hans-JoachimSchmidt, Michael Magin, Albert Meij unveiled KSIM together.

 


Later in his speech, President Hu pointed out fruitful achievements of both sides in talent cultivation, scientific research, faculty development and so forth in a nearly two-decade cooperation laid solid foundation for the smooth approval of the joint program. The establishment of KSIM was not only an important reform, innovation and exploration for SDJU to upgrade its model of talent cultivation in intelligent manufacturing, but also an active response to industrial, functional and developmental needs of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Lin-Gang Special Area, and a significant measure to contribute to the construction of Lin-Gang International Intelligent Manufacturing Center. On behalf of SDJU, Hu extended his gratitude to those who had long dedicated themselves to the cooperation of both sides and those who worked hard for the successful approval of KSIM, and looked forward to harvesting more productive fruits by closer cooperation in the future.

 


Two-decade cooperation in retrospect, President Hans-Joachim Schmidt said that faculty of both sides had worked hard and diligently since the launch of “2+2” double degree program and achieved encouraging results. During the pandemic, teachers and students also did their utmost to continue the program. He wished both sides could have more splendid cooperation with the unveiling of KSIM as a new start.

Approved by the Ministry of Education in May, 2021, KSIM will concentrate on intelligent manufacturing, cultivate high-caliber technical talent with global insight in high-end equipment manufacturing and services by integrating mutual advantages of both universities and giving them a full play in a bid to serve the building and improvement of Lin-gang New Area better.
