School of Arts and Sciences Practiced Labor Education

22/03/2021

Spring is a time for ploughing and planting, and more importantly, for striving to realize dreams. On the afternoon of March 19, the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) held a launching ceremony for the first labor education practice – sunflower planting in the Spiritual Garden which the Department of Student Affairs, SAS leaders and counselors, and students participated in.

At the ceremony, Fang Jing, Deputy Director of Student Affairs Office, presented an activity banner to SAS student representatives, hoping that they would plant the most beautiful flowers through diligent cultivation. Zhang Fubo, President of Student Union, proposed the initiative by saying that “Labor is the most glorious, and struggle is the most fulfilling. Let’s cultivate, toil and enjoy labor, by which our integrity will get perfected, brain smartened, physique strengthened and sense of beauty nourished. We should also put knowledge into practice, combine manual labor with mental work, achieving all-round development in moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetic and labor education.”

After the ceremony, students worked hard in the mild wind, planted sunflowers in the land of hope, which highlighted a perfect ending to this activity. (Zhang Zhiming, School of Arts and Sciences)
