Content: This lecture mainly introduces the Chen’s experience of academic visits to research institutions in three European countries, including his 2016 academic visit to the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) at Trieste in Northeast Italy, the 2017 postdoctoral experience at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) in north-central Switzerland, and the 2018 academic visit to the Greek Science and Technology Research Foundation (FORTH) in Crete, the largest island of Greece in the eastern Mediterranean. In the lecture, Chen tries to explore the different characteristics of Chinese and European researchers in their scientific researches, as well as the feeling of living and working in these European cities.
