SDJU Awarded Second Prize for Shanghai S&T Progress

15/06/2020

The project “Key Technologies and Applications in Re-Manufacturingof Core Components of Heavy-duty Gas Turbine throughLaser Engineering Net Shaping” participated by Professor Li Lei from School of Materials with SDJU as the third completion unit won the second prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award of 2019.

The maintenance heavy duty gas turbine in China has been monopolized by foreign companies for a long time, which could easily lead to high maintenance cost and long maintenance cycle and the risk of being forced to replace the components. To solve this problem, SDJU, along with Shanghai Dalu Tianrui Laser Surface Engineering Co., Ltd., Shanghai Jiaotong University etc. have set up a joint research team, which has innovated a number of laser re-manufacturing technologies and achieved the world’s first re-manufacturing of the core components in heavy-duty gas turbine by laser engineering net shaping. This broke the monopoly of foreign company in part replacement, shortened maintenance time by 80% and reduced cost by 90%. The technology has been successfully applied in the maintenance of core components of heavy-duty gas turbine rotor hub tenon teeth and turbine cylinder in Shanghai Zhadian Turbine Power Plant and Zhejiang Zheneng&Zhenhai United Power Generation Co., Ltd., which created great economic benefits and saved huge cost for them, thus providing support for the safe and effective operation and production of the power plant safely. These are also role models in the application of laser re-manufacturing technology in related field.

In recent years, School of Materials has strived to strengthen its discipline research and construction, constantly refine its discipline characteristics, adhere to the idea of “High level albeit small in scale”, target high-end equipment manufacturing industry, intending to become the scientific and technological frontier and satisfy needs of enterprises in Lingang as well as Shanghai. Now School of Materials is very competitive in fields of surface manufacturing, large part hot manufacturing and functional materials, and became “Research Center of Shanghai for Large Part Hot Manufacturing Engineering”. It won 6 scientific and technological awards at provincial and ministerial level and above (including one second and one third prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award as the first completion unit). Many teachers have won the titles like “National Baiqianwan Talents Program”, “Program of Shanghai Academic/Technology Research Leader”, “Sailing Program for Young Talents of Shanghai”, “Shanghai Science and Technology Star Program”, and “Shanghai Yucai Award” and headed more than 10 NSFC projects.
