Currently there are fewer systems that provide the patient monitoring during the physical rehabilitation process by physiotherapists, which may lead to less adequate diagnostic techniques for the patient's physical condition. In this work an IoT healthcare system designed for physical rehabilitation that includes a smart crutch with sensors, embedded processing and communication is reported. Based on the smart crutch it is possible to continuously monitor the evolution of the gait and balance making correlations with rehabilitation outcomes. Additionally, a mobile application for smart phone or tablet was developed to assure advanced processing, data visualization but also data synchronization with a remote database.
