SDJU is widely known as a breeding ground for cosmopolitans, who are expected to serve the humanity in worldwide relations. Increasingly, SDJU is promoting international programs or projects to groom and create young cosmopolitans who are obsessed with cross-cultural bonds of mutual respect, and who seek opportunities in some of the world’s most open communities.

A case in point: Eleven undergraduate students from 6 SDJU Schools, either in their third or fourth year of study in diverse fields, will constitute the members of a Culture and International Business program hosted by the University of Northern Iowa (UNI).

UNI is highly prestigious for its quality education at an affordable price, with the UNI College of Business Administration boasting its top part-time MBA program around the world. UNI and SDJU has reached cooperation agreement on the basis of equality and mutual benefit since 2011. UNI President Mark A. Nook took a delegation of prominent figures in UNI Business and Internationalism to SDJU last week, to boost education and culture exchange between the two parties.

Together with Hong Jun Xiong, assistant dean of the SDJU School of Business, the eleven young elite departed from Shanghai Pudong International Airport yesterday.

After a 14-hour flight, the group arrived at Chicago O'Hare Airport, and then they were sent by Windstar Bus to the Iowa campus. Chris, a Brazilian teacher who arrived one day before, warmly greeted the SDJU group at the campus entrance.

Registration went successfully with Chris’s help. After that, the cohort of SDJU undergraduates came back to dorm rooms, resting and preparing for the wonderful journey at next sunrise.

Chris delivered safety education and detailed our itinerary to everyone on Sunday morning. The students took the school bus in the afternoon to Target and Wal-Mart near the campus, to buy the necessities of daily life.

2018 is the fifth year for the Culture and International Business program to be held. Nowadays, the influence of different cultures in the global business world is essential for building successful international relations. The program explores cultural intelligence, and provides up-to-date knowledge on global supply chain and labor market, to help students succeed in their future careers.

The team will spend the next three weeks in Iowa, and everyone is well prepared to learn a lot of knowledge and make friends from different countries.
