Yuanyuan Kong honoured with Medallion for Excellence at WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017

The 44th WorldSkills Competition was held from 14th to 19th October 2017 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Until the last day of the event, when the contest was closed, Chinese delegation has won 15 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 8 bronze medals and 12 winning prizes in 47 participated games. There are 35 players from different countries and regions had participated in website design and development contest. Yuanyuan Kong, SDJU undergraduate in computer science and technology, won the Medallion for Excellence for his outstanding achievement as a competitor in web design and development.

 

The competition in web design and development is divided into 8 modules in this year’s WorldSkills Contest. The complete duration for this competition last for 20 hours. The module includes single page website design, website redesign, elastic layout page implementation, CSS design, front end jigsaw puzzle, front end interactive animation, well-functioning chess game, and restaurant service reservation system. Yuanyuan Kong had encountered with a setback on the competition on day 1, but in the subsequent contests, he managed to adjust his performance back to steady state, which resulted a high score from the evaluation of the judgers. In algorithm design section, his performance was more superior than that was created by an expert.



Yuanyuan Kong is currently studying computer science and technology within the School of Electronic and Information Engineering. He has established a consolidate foundation in website design and development. After attending the University, Kong founded a club for web page designing and developing. Xiao Yong Song, the instructor, sacrificed his free time in helping Yuanyuan Kong on handling technical difficulties. This explains the reason why Yuanyuan Kong has made such achievement.
