Celebration of 2024 Chinese New Year

The spring sunshine draws near as the sun and moon usher in a new year. As the Chinese New Year approached, our university held a celebration for on-campus students on the evening of February 2nd. The No.1 Canteen at Lin-gang campus was beautifully decorated, creating a lively and festive atmosphere filled with warmth and harmony. Teachers and on-campus students gathered to celebrate the arrival of the Chinese New Year and talk about the future. The event was attended by Lu Xionggang, Secretary of CPC SDJU Committee, Li Xiaojun, Deputy Secretary of CPC SDJU Committee and Vice President, Vice President Wang Zhiheng, and Vice President Yang Junjie. Attendees were close to 200 people, including teachers from relevant departments and secondary schools, students, volunteers of winter holiday daycare class and so on.

Secretary Lu delivered an enthusiastic New Year’s message, extending warm greetings to all faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends from various sectors of society who care about and support our university. He said that in 2023, all SDJUers united and strived together, ushering in a new phase of high-quality development. He stated that in 2024, our university is about to convene the Second SDJU Party Congress and enter a crucial stage of high-quality development for the 14th Five-Year Plan. With a steadfast aim to become a national pilot of applied technology university, it is imperative to maintain the spirit of innovation and diligence and on a new starting point, we should pool strength for a glorious new chapter of our university.

Our university leaders presented heartwarming gift bags to representatives of on-campus students, wishing them a year of fruitful learning and a bright future. From the first to the seventh day of the Chinese New Year, our university would provide delicious meals for students hoping them to have a safe, comfortable holiday, and feel the warmth of home on campus.

Xu Ruiyang, kid of a faculty family and student from Mingzhu Primary School, played Jinhu (bowed Chinese string instrument with two strings and with a bamboo body and neck used primarily in Beijing opera) and sang Hongyang Cave, extending his best wishes to all attendees.

Students from the School of Business and KKIP (Kaiserslautern Kolleg für Intelligente Produktion), sang the song Hello Tomorrow, captivating the audience with their wonderful voice. International students from International Education School (IES) showcased the charm of cultural exchange through their singing of Ten Years. Students from School of Electronics and Information Engineering and School of Business performed the song and dance Smile of Rainbow, wishing everyone a happy and colorful year ahead. Wang Zitong, counselor from School of Mechanical Engineering delivered a captivating saxophone medley that harmoniously blended Eastern and Western elements. Students from School of Design and Arts presented a jubilant performance Joyous Chinese New Year, integrating modern singing and dancing with traditional calligraphy, and brough the celebration to a climax.

Liu Yazhuo is one of the leaders responsible for the winter holiday daycare class. As a retired soldier and a member of the Student Union Presidium, he shared his own story and interpreted the significance of responsibility, the value of experience and sacrifice of the youth. The celebration was interspersed with exciting rounds of fun raffles, with our university’s cultural and creative products and stationery being favored by students, creating a lively atmosphere.

The splendid performance and enthusiastic atmosphere showcase SDJUers’ full spirit and t vigorous attitude.
