Abstract:

Invited by Shanghai Dianji University, Dr. Yan Ping Xin, Professor of Purdue University (US), is conducting a four-day workshop on How to Conduct Research to Dianji faculty and staff from May 22 to June 1st, 2018. Workshop Session 1 focuses on “How to Form a Research Question.” Following her presentation on the process for writing meaningful research questions, Professor Xin engaged participants in sharing their own research questions, about which she provided further insights in addressing these research questions.

Workshop Session 2 focuses on Single-Subject Research Design, often used in applied fields of education and human behaviours in which the subject serves as his or her own control, rather than a control group as in traditional group comparison studies.

During Workshop Session 3, Professor Xin shared with the participants about how to design and conduct survey research. During the final Workshop Session, which is scheduled this Friday (1:00pm to 4:00pm), Professor Xin will address Behaviour Dimension Measures and Data Collection System. In particular, a classroom behaviour observation form will be shared with the workshop participants who will be engaged in applying newly learned data collection system in observing classroom behaviours of both the students and the instructor.
